A panel of judges will select shortlisted entries in early April each year following competition closure on 31st March and the shortlist will be invited to the Annual Business of science Conference and awards where a winner will be announced.
Entrants must submit one (1) completed application per idea through the competition website.
Entries submitted in a previous year are not eligible for resubmission. However, if significant improvements have been made to the original product and/or significant enhancements that are unique and innovative, then the new model is eligible for submission.

Entries deemed by the judges in their sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, indecent, profane or not in keeping with the competiton’s image will be disqualified. We reserve the right in our sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time which, in our opinion, endangers the safety or well being of any person, or fails to comply with these Official Rules. Decisions are final and binding.
This Contest is open to persons in the three age categories at the time of submission. Employees, subsidiaries, sales representatives, advertising, promotion and all other service agencies involved with design, execution or fulfillment of this Contest, and members of the immediate families (defined for these purposes as parents, children, siblings and spouse) or households (whether related or not) of any of the above are DEFINITELY eligible to participate
A panel of industry expert judges will select Honorees in each category.
Honorees will be selected based on five qualifications:
- Qualities of and application for the idea; a great idea and dream
- Aesthetic and design qualities; what is possible
- The product’s intended use/function and user value including how it can make a positive impact to the quality of life for its users, or those affected by its use;
- Why the product deserves the Innovation Award, including specifics regarding its unique/novel features and application that others would find attractive.
- How the thinking, design and innovation of this can be compared to others or has no compare.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Award designation is subject to proof of compliance with Official Rules, maintaining compliance with these Official Rules and approval by the organisers. As a condition of receiving the award, Honorees will be required to supply contact information including, but not limited to name, phone number and email address.
Shortlisted entrants will be announced by mid-April and invited to present a ‘Poster’ of their idea at the Business of Science Conference. It is anticipated that all shortlisted entrants will attend personally to discuss their Poster with the wider BoSC audience as part of the Final judging process.
